DTF Photography/Artwork Exhibition 2019

25-26 October 2019

Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka, Bangladesh

The English adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” is not enough to describe the role of photography. We are no longer in 1911. The passing of Kosovar refugee baby through a wire, crowding gather at Berlin Wall, the Bolivian government posing with the corpse of Che Guevara, Muslims and Christians holding each other’s hands during the Cairo uprisings, featuring ‘Harvest of Death’, a man falling from the World Trade Center, Annette Kellerman promoting women’s right wearing fitted bathing suits—they are not just photos, they are more epical than the epics, more storing than the short stories. Photography provides many things; proof that something come to pass, the ability to capture a jiffy or reminiscences, or as a means of communication.
