
Asiya Zahoor, who studied Psycholinguistics at Oxford University, and Caribbean Diaspora Literature at the University of Kashmir, is an academic, poet and a filmmaker. Her poems have been translated into Arabic, French, Persian, Portuguese and Urdu. Her film, “The Stitch,” won the Critics Award for Best Short Film at the 2nd South Asian Film Festival. The 17th Third Eye Festival in Mumbai and has been screened in several prestigious film festivals around the world. Asiya is the curator of www.bolbosh.net, a website that documents languages and literature of Kashmir where Asiya was born and raised, and where she now teaches and researches on topics such as politics of place, Muslim identity and the psychology of language learning.
