Sayed Manzoorul Islam taught English literature at Dhaka University. He has written extensively on modern and postmodern literature, literary theory and cultural studies. He has published six volumes of short stories and five novels, as well as translation of poems and short fiction by Bangladeshi poets and writers. He received the Bangla Academy prize for literature in 1996 and the Prothom Alo Award, and Kagoj Literary Award in 2006.
